CFUW International
Relations
The international work of the Canadian Federation of University
Women (CFUW) centres on the International Federation of University
Women (IFUW), the United Nations, the Canadian Government's
international issues, and arising global issues.
Information on CFUW's action and involvement can be found in the
following areas:
The Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) is a charter
member of the International Federation of University Women, an
organization founded in 1919 following the First World War.
Its objective of promoting peace and human rights, with a focus on
women and girls, is as significant today as it was almost a century
ago. CFUW, with close to 10,000 members, is the largest of
the 79 national federations and associations (NFAs) of IFUW (see
www.ifuw.org ).
CFUW holds special consultative status with ECOSOC (United Nations
Economic and Social Council) and serves on the Sectoral Committee
on Education of the Canadian Sub-commission for UNESCO (United
Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization).
